The Extended Mixer View

A Friend of mine is narrating and there are birds chirping in the background (open window, oops).
Admittedly he did not have a clue what he was talking about.

If you did notice: when i hold ctrl-shift and drag the send volume knob, not the pan but the volume is adjusted. I seem to have pressed the shift button too softly, sorry.

Stage6 is dead - long live blip.tv!

The message came as a shock - a few days after we started using stage6:
"Stage6.com has been shut down. Thank you for supporting the service."
The existing videos still stream, so for now they're good where they are, but we needed a new host that provides us with the same or better features.

Quickly, StepOne found a loophole in blip.tv that enables us to upload h264-videos without having them recompressed to flash video thus staying in control of resolution, quality and file size. It's a lot different than creating a standart divx-avi file though.

If you want to follow the existing tutorial, you can use use vreel.net instead if stage6.

How to make a Video Tutorial

There have been some updates, please read this post if you want to make a video tutorial based on this tutorial.

This is what will probably remain the masterpiece of my movie directing career. It's not perfect, but you can hardly imagine how pissed i was after messing up the 5th take of making two video tutorials at once, so there are a few akward silences and stuff.

Addition: stage6 has gone offline. You can use the similar service vreel.net instead.

stage6 won

the highdef-video service brought to you by the divx-developers has met all our technical requirements: small-sizedly embedable, full-screenable, high resolution, good quality, small filesize.
the only downside: it requires the divx webplayer.

i'll make a video on how this could work.

if you have any better ideas, you know where i stroll :D
